About · Meet the nerd
Stories shouldn't just be read. They should be felt.
Whether that means falling for the bad boy, getting so mad you throw the book across the room only to recommend it to your friend afterward, staying up way too late because “just one more chapter” turns into five, or getting wrapped up in a cozy fantasy world full of low-stakes yumminess.
I curate this collection, both in-store and online, with elder millennial pizazz — celebrating everything from romantasy and gothic fantasy to cozy reads, emotional fiction, indie authors, horror, thrillers, and everything in between.
Creating space for readers who haunt bookstores, build fandom playlists, devour fan fiction, and search for stories that feel like an escape. Whether you’re here for book boyfriends, slow burns, dark academia, cozy worlds, or beautifully strange, heartfelt stories, I hope every visit feels a little magical.
I wholeheartedly believe that if you aren’t into reading yet, you just haven’t found the right book. Built on community, curiosity, and the belief that the right story can still change your whole week, A Nerd With a Bookstore welcomes everyone in.
Hi, I'm Tanya, the nerd with a bookstore.
I am a navy kid San Diego transplant, I landed here in 1998 and never left (yup I am old). Since moving around was inevitable, my best friends were books. I read everything I could get my hands on, probably not always parent approved.
I am a judger of book covers, good or bad, it’s a problem. I hoard books like a dragon, and read just about every genre. I have a lot of unpopular opinions when it comes to well known beloved books (verity eww, I said what I said). But that’s the beauty of it, I have options, and so do you.
So welcome to my little side quest that is a nerd with a bookstore. I will stumble here and there but stick with me, it only gets better. The picture is of me and my hubs, Andrew, and our two weenie dogs. When I am not moonlighting as a bookstore owner you can find me in your local ER as a nurse.
